Dear Sister Reid…

Dear Sister Reid:

You are hereby called to serve as a missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
You are assigned to labor in the Florida Orlando Mission. It is anticipated that you will serve for a period of 18 months.

You should report to the Provo Missionary Training Center on Wednesday, September 23, 2015. You will prepare to preach the gospel in the English language. Your assignment may be modified according to the needs of the mission president.

You have been recommended as one worthy to represent the Lord as a minister of the restored gospel. You will be an official representative of the Church. As such, you will be expected to maintain the highest Standards of conduct and appearance by keeping the commandments, living mission rules, and following the counsel of your mission president. As you devote your time and attention to serving the Lord, leave behind all other personal affairs, the Lord will bless you with increased knowledge and testimony of the Restoration and of the truths of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Your purpose will be to invite others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end. As you serve with all your heart, might, and strength, the Lord will lead you to those who are prepared to be baptized.

The Lord will reward you for the goodness of your life. Greater blessings and more happiness than you have yet experienced await you as you humbly and prayerfully serve the Lord in his labor of love among His children. We place our confidence in you as you pray that the Lord will help you become an effective missionary.

You will be set apart as a missionary by your stake president. Please go the promptly to acknowledge your acceptance of this call.

This was my last time seeing Teri until 2017. She will be serving in the Maryland Baltimore Mission and she leaves next Wednesday. Good Luck Teri! I love you to pieces!

Adam will be serving in Orlando too!!! (note the hat) He leaves July 15th.

Sister Hartvigsen served her mission in Florida!

Thanks so much to everyone that came! I am definitely blessed with the best. Thanks for all of your love and support over the last 18.5 years. I wouldn’t be where I am today without you guys. So thanks for your good examples and your loving smiles. I love you guys!

I feel so honored to be blessed with the opportunity to serve The Lord and his Children in Orlando. I pray that I will be able to be His hands in doing good in peoples lives. It’s been a crazy week with graduation and a mission call within two days of each other. But I’m so happy about it. And as for September 23rd… I can’t wait.

p.s. As soon as I got my call I posted on Instagram and Facebook the words “I GOT MY HOGWARTS LETTER!! (Aka my mission call!)” Little did I know Harry Potter World would actually be in my mission. The Lord has a sense of humor. I’m sure of it.
p.s.s. Can you tell I’m a little excited?!
p.s.s.s. Here are a few pictures from graduation last Wednesday. And you’d better know we nailed a high school musical jump. Because can you really graduate if you didn’t take a HSM picture?

General Womens Meeting!

My mother taught my brother how to prank call today… funniest thing of my life.

The conversation went like this;

*brother calls grandparents*
*grandpa picks up*

Grandpa- “hello”

Little brother- “hello, this is a message from Davis High School, to listen to the message, press one.”

*Grandpa presses one* {obviously it wasn’t someone from Davis high school. So we all died when he actually pressed 1.}

Little brother- “hello, it has been recorded that your son, Mike (my dad. Obviously not in HS), has been abducted by aliens. Bye!”

Ay, I was laughing so hard I couldn’t breath and I thought I was going to pass out. I like my family. I think I’ll keep them.

So today was the General Women’s Meeting. I don’t want to take a long time typing because I want you to take the time to watch the broadcast. I do however, want to say that the spirit that was felt while watching this broadcast was powerful. An undeniable witness to me that this church is true. I will also provide you with some photographs of the notes I took because let’s face it, I love taking notes. Enjoy!

(yes, I know I misspelled covenants.)

What were you’re favorite quotes from the broadcast?

p.s. I am SO excited for conference next week I can not even stand it!

Guess what everybody! I’m a REAL blogger now!!

I got a big fancy pants camera from Santa and I’m very excited about it. For those of you who were wondering its a Canon Rebel xsi. Pictures of random objects to come.

I thought I’d do a quick post before we go to breakfast at our cousin’s house to wish you all a very

Last night we had our annual Christmas Eve party at my Grandparent’s house. We did white elephants and I think mine requires to be shared. This is my family… as the Avengers. Enjoy!

Here are a few free printables/e-cards for your Christmas holiday. Feel free to print/share/save them!

AANNNDDD… for the spiritual portion of this Christmas facebook post.

Here are two videos that I highly recommend you watch if you haven’t already. If you have seen them feel free to watch them again. They are FANTASTIC! I especially enjoy the adorable little lamb in the first video. So adorable.

I’d like to add my testimony to the videos above. Christ’s birth was the most significant event in the history of mankind, but without the things he did during his life his birth would be just that, another birth. I know that he suffered for our sins, our pains, and our afflictions, and he ultimately died for us so that we can return to live with him. We are here on this earth to become more like him and I pray that this Christmas can be a reminder to you of what he did FOR YOU. Let him in your life and follow him. He loves you.

Merry Christmas!

come what may, and love it

Whoa! I haven’t blogged since Wednesday of last week… Totes not like me. {totes? who says that?}

It has been a fantastic and rather productive weekend starting with me becoming all licensed and deadly on Friday.

What kind of license? You may ask.

My pilot’s license? It’s out back in the Cessna. Or perhaps you’re referring to my license to kill. Revoked – problems at the Kazakhstan border. I’d give you the details, but then I’d have to kill you… which I can’t do because my license to kill has been revoked.

{That one was for you Katie!}

Just kidding! I received a drivers license on Friday! Now all I need is for someone to buy me a car…. any takers? 😉 Going once…. going twice….

The second rather productive thing of the weekend consisted of me and the last 22 chapters of the bible which I finished yesterday. It felt good. Two years of bible and I finally get to move on to the Book of Mormon. Check that off my bucket list! {Yes it’s true, this chick has read the entire bible. She is datable now.}

The next productive thing of the weekend was watching The General Young Womens Broadcast on Saturday night. My favorite talk was by Diter F. Uchdorf and it was about our Journey here on earth. Listen to it here!

The final productive thing of the weekend included a fun Easter with family. I have a testimony of the Savior and I am very grateful for all he has done for me.

And lastly I’d like to share with you something that I haven’t told anyone yet. This thing has been bothering me for weeks and I don’t want it to happen. I don’t know how I am going to say good bye to all the people I have come to know and love over the last several years {If any of you know me you know that I stink at good byes.} My family is moving to Arizona. And I am not happy about it. But I guess since there is nothing to do about it we must try to “come what may, and love it.” It will be hard, but I am excited.

p.s. Happy April Fools day……… hahaha

p.s.s. I really want a cute CTR ring. Why are they so dang expensive? {THIS ONE is cute, and it’s cheapish, and it’s on sale. Wink. Wink.} Oh, and I’m a size 6… just saying.

tickets & music

My lovely sister is going to play Adelaide in the Jr. High production of Guys and Dolls in 3 weeks. We are in charge of tickets. We have been cutting out and labeling all day and we are finally finished. Whoo! So if any of you would like to come watch my beautiful sister kiss a boy tickets go on sell at Bowman’s Grocery Store on Monday. {There are two casts so her performances are Wednesday, Friday, and the Saturday Matinee.}
{does anybody know how to rotate this?}
{I ❤ Miki}

This has basically been my entire day. I also went to watch an old neighbor open his mission call. That was fun. It’s kind of a short post today so I will leave you with my favorite song of the week. It has been on replay for most of the day.

p.s. Who else bought Les Miserables yesterday? I DID! 🙂

First to Kiss First

My little sister got the part of Adelaide in the Jr. High production of Guys and Dolls. And we are so excited and proud of her. BUT………….

This brought me to a very sad realization.

My sister will have her first kiss before I do.

Ya. I know.

So we are talking at dinner tonight this is how the conversation went….

Mom: “guess what! Danielle might have to kiss someone.”
Me: “My little sister will have her first kiss before me.”
Danielle: “It won’t be real!”
Me: “I can assure you that your lips will touch.”
Danielle: “Ya, but our hearts won’t!”
…and I will just end that conversation right there before my dad starts talking….

As my mom was walking out the door I say
“Bye! I will try not to kiss anyone while you’re gone!”
Mom: “Hey…..If you get the opportunity!”

So congrats to Danielle at Dani’s Purple Notebook. Love ya! And I now have a new goal of having my first kiss. Someday.
