THIS EMAIL IS GOING TO BE LONG SO IF YOU DON’T HAVE TIME TO READ ALL OF IT THEN AT LEAST SKIP DOWN TO THE END AND READ THAT!!

SUNDAYYY was my last Sunday in the field. We had church and our sweet investigator Nelly came.

[Me saying goodbye to Lilly and Sydney and their Grandma, Sister Torres]

We met with John, Rachel, and Arturo and had a nice little lesson with them. I sure do love that family a whole bunch.

Inline image 3

After that we went over to the Baerga’s for dinner. They are just the sweetest family. That evening we also met a guy named Frank that we taught a little bit. Then we came home and I started packing.

MONDAYYY was my last P-day. I spent the morning packing and the rest of the day hanging out with my mission buddies. In the evening we had FHE and dinner with the Mackey family and they are just a hoot! I love them! And just like that my regular proselyting days were over. That hurt me right in the chest.

TUESDAYYY I woke up and finished some last minute packing. We loaded everything up in the car and ran to the mission office to get a paper. God sent me a tender mercy and I got to say goodbye to my best friend Sister Glover.

Inline image 5

Inline image 6

Then we went over to David’s World Cycle to drop off my bike (that I may or may not have ever actually ridden in Florida… haha) Then Sister Yance dropped me off at the Wetherbee building and I had to say goodbye to one of the sweetest humans I have ever associated with. I love youuuuuuuuuu!!!

Inline image 4

I got to say hi to my girl Sister Stratton. Sister Stratton and I went to the same high school and she is pretty good friends with my little sister and a lot of the people I know back home. She got to the mission the day before I left so I passed my Layton baton on to her. Good luck my friend! You are going to do incredible things!! Take care of Florida for me!

I took my last Polaroid with Sister Glover.

Inline image 10

THEN THEN THEN

we sat at the church for eeeeeeeetttttttttttttttttteeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrnnnnnnnnnnnnniiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiittttttttttttttttyyyyyyyyyyyyy.

We were all starving and stranded with no car and no phones so we gave your money to the group of elders that were at the church too and those blessed elders drove to Chick-Fil-A and got us some grub. They are going to get so many blessings. SO MANY.

Inline image 8

Then we waited some more…

Inline image 9

Then we had a good meeting with President about all the challenges of going home. While we were in our meeting the sweet Assistants weighed all of our bags for us and when we came out we helped the Elders and Sisters re-adjust their bags that were over the weight limit. Then we trecked on down to the mission home in the big white whale and the truck.

Inline image 11Inline image 12

At the mission home we had dinner. Several of the Senior couples came so they could say goodbye to us. They had all of us departing missionaries sit at the table in the dining room and it felt like we were at the kids table. It was a party. I sure do love these crazy kids a lot! They always make me laugh so hard.

After dinner we had one of the most tender testimony meetings I have ever been to. My friends, I sure have loved these last 18 months. The Lord has been so good to me. He’s been so good to all of us. At the end we stood and sang Called to Serve one last time. I was filled with so much gratitude for my Savior for this opportunity He gave me to serve. Then we all knelt in a circle and said a prayer. It was such a sweet experience.

Then we took the traditional stair picture.

I can honestly say I don’t think any of us slept that night. At one point I rolled over in my bed and Sister Mohenoa said “Sister Reid…are you awake?” and I just said “ya….” and she said “I can’t go to sleep.” haha from that point on I didn’t sleep much for the rest of the week either.

WEDNESDAYYY we woke up at the CRACK OF DAWN…. Actually….. WELL BEFORE THE CRACK OF DAWN. We were awake by 3:30 to start getting ready to go. Around 5:00 Elder Dummer and Elder Lyon (the assistants) came by and had breakfast with Sister Olsen and I and President Clark. Then we loaded up our stuff. Said goodbye to Sister Magno, Sister Mohenoa, and President and Sister Clark and the Assistants took us to the airport. They dropped us off at the curb, shook our hands, and we were off!

OKAY OKAY OKAY ARE YOU READY FOR THIS…

So we get in and see the longest line of my life. I about died because we were already running slightly behind schedule. We see the Elders that had gotten there earlier and they are already through baggage and were looking at us like “hope you make it Sisters…” ahhhh so Sister Olsen and I said a prayer right there in the middle of the baggage line. The line went pretty fast. The guy that checked my bags was a member. Then we got through security in a good amount of time. I had forgotten to take my liquids out, but they didn’t stop me to check it so that was a #HASHTAGBLESSING. Then we start to make our way towards our gate and after we get off the little tram thing we see Elder Greenwood and Reyes running towards us. The said “SISTERS YOUR FLIGHT IS ALREADY BOARDING! GIVE US YOUR BAGS!” So they grabbed our bags and ran us to our gate. We said goodbye to them (they were both flying to different states) and we walked right onto our plane and before I knew it we were in the air!

The flight was good. We all kept checking the clock every three minutes so that made it feel extremely long. We watched all the Mormon Messages on my iPad…. nothing like watching Chastity, what are the limits? With your mission buds on an airplane…. ahhahaha

We finally landed in Utah. We had landed a little early so we had to stall a little bit to make sure our families had enough time to be there.

Then the long-awaited moment happened! I hugged my family! I felt more like a celebrity than I ever have in my life. haha And let me tell you. Every lonely moment in the mission was all worth it when I finally got to hug my army of people that supported me for the last 18 months.

MY SWEET FRIEND HANNAH MADE ME THE CUUUUUUUUTTTTTTTTEST VIDEO OF ME AT THE AIRPORT

Then I got some Cafe Rio. #BLESSED

Inline image 2

Then I spent the day visiting with friends and family and I just had a grand ole time! In the evening I went to meet with my Stake President to get released. He had my littlest sister Mikall (she’s 12) take off my name tag. She then handed it to my other Sister Danielle who is 18 and will start her mission papers in the next couple weeks. That was sweet, but it was oh so hard. And just like that I became Whitney again.

THURSDAYYY I took my littlest sister “tracting” in my neighborhood to deliver invitations to my homecoming. It was the best tracting I have ever done in my life! haha every door I knocked on swung open and I was greeted with screams and hugs and I can honestly say I never received that kind of response when I knocked on doors in Florida. haha I also got a phone and had a bunch more people come see me. Then in the evening I went to institute with my friend Kenna. I accidentally introduced myself to the class as “Sister Reid”

*face palm*

During class Kenna slipped me this note and said “here…. this is practice for when boys try to flirt with you.” haha

FRIDAYYY I ran errands and in the evening I had my open house. I got to see so many friends and a bunch of family. I played with my cousins who are so big. Around 11:00 at night my best friend Lauren and Lexi and their family came to hang out and didn’t leave until after 1:00 and I didn’t go to bed until after 2:00. Just like the good old days!

SATURDAYYY I went to my Sister’s State Theater competition. High schools are a worldly place. haha I was NOT prepared for the music and performances at this competition. It made me feel like I needed to go read my scriptures for a few hours. haha But my sister did great and that was fun to watch her compete. In the evening I went to Kenna’s house and I watched my first movie. I made everyone stay rated G and we watched Zootopia. All my friends decided that I was Kathy. The whole time I watched the movie I was just looking for gospel analogies in the movie. Then we watched a couple episodes of Bob Ross….. don’t ask…. my friends are weird.

TODAYYYY IS EASTER SUNDAY! This morning I got up early and went to go help teach mission prep. I role-played in front of the class with my friend Jordan who got home a few months ago. That was fun. I was told I would be given an official calling as a mission prep teacher. I was pretty pumped about that!!

So now it’s 10:00. I have church at 1:00 and will give my homecoming talk.

I included this in my email last week, but for those of you who didn’t get it, I wanted to include it again…

SAPPY THANK YOUS COMIN’ ATCHYA!!!!

To my sweet friends Mayra, Cassie, Will, Cedar, Junior, Josh, Patrick, and Robbie who I’ve watched enter the waters of baptism while I’ve been here I want you to know I’m so proud of each of you. I’m glad I got to watch you come closer to your Savior. I’m glad I got to play a tiny part in you journey to the Celestial Kingdom. Stay faithful my friends. We are going to rejoice together in Heaven someday.

To all my investigators I’ve taught over the last year and a half and the hundreds of people I’ve met in the streets or knocked on your doors, I want to say thank you for allowing me the opportunity to share my testimony with you. Because every time you let me share my testimony, my testimony became a little stronger. I want you to know that I do know these things that I’ve taught you are true. I pray that y’all will be able to continue to learn and grow and I can’t wait to see you again someday and see how far you’ve come.

To all my sweet ward members. Everyone from Leesburg, to Daytona Beach, to Buena Vista, to Deland, to New Smyrna Beach, to Lake Nona. Thank you so much for all you’ve done for me. Because of you home has felt a little closer. To the active members, and those who come to church less frequently, I don’t know how I would have done the last eighteen months without all of your sweet smiles. Thank you for your righteous examples. Thank you for all the meals. Thank you for being such good member missionaries and for sharing the things you know and love with your friends.

To all my deer companions. Sister Ives, Sister Brown, Sister Guynn, Sister Mohenoa, Sister Nelsen, Sister Lewis, Sister Duran, Sister Muhlestein, Sister Hart, Sister Larsen, Sister Simpson, Hermana Jones, Sister Glover, and Sister Yance thank you so much for all you’ve taught me. Y’all have become some of my closest friends and will forever be people that I think about with joy. I’m glad God allowed us to spend so much time together. I want each of you to know how much I love you and how much I appreciate each of you. I hope we are able to stay in contact and I know that these friendships we’ve grown won’t just last in this life, but will extend into the eternities.

To my mission leaders. To President and Sister Berry, President and Sister Clark, to President and Sister Wood, and President Humphrey’s, to all the elders that have served as Assistants to the President, to all my Zone Leaders, Sister Training Leaders, and District Leaders, and to my sweet sweet trainers Sister Guynn, and Sister Nelsen. Thank you for your righteous examples. Thank you for teaching me how I can be the best missionary I can be. I don’t now if you realize the impact your small acts have influenced me as a missionary and as a person. I have strived to emulate the love you’ve shown me with those I’ve been able to serve and my heart has swollen with joy in the process. Thank you for your trainings. Thank you for your love. Thank you for every time you’ve served me. Thank you for helping me be better.

To my fellow FOMers. Especially the sweet sisters I’ve been able to learn from as I’ve served as a Sister Training Leader. I’ve probably learned more from y’all than I’ve ever been able to teach you. Thank you for becoming my friends. Thank you for helping this time I’ve spent in Florida become such a joyful time of my life.

To my fan club back at home. To my sweet family, to my friends, to my home ward, and everyone else who cheered me on as I’ve been out here serving. Your prayers have carried me. I know that angels were sent to assist me in this work because of the prayers y’all have said in my behalf. Thank you for the financial support, for every letter you’ve sent, for every email you’ve typed, and for every prayer you’ve said. I feel so grateful to have such an army behind me supporting me. I wouldn’t have been able to do the things that I have if it wasn’t for you.

And last but not least, thank you to my Father in Heaven for this time I’ve been given to serve here in the Sunshine state. I echo Ammon’s words again when I say “Yea, I know that I am nothing, as to my strength I am weak; therefore I will not boast of myself, but I will boast of my God, for in his strength I can do all things; yea, behold, many mighty miracles we have wrought in this land, for which we will praise his name forever.” (Alma 26:12)

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL THAT Y’ALL HAVE DONE FOR ME THESE LAST 19 MONTHS AND MORE THAN THAT, THESE LAST 20 YEARS. I COULDN’T HAVE DONE ANY OF IT WITHOUT YOU, AND WITHOUT THE HELP OF MY FATHER IN HEAVEN, AND HIS SON, JESUS CHRIST. I WILL FOREVER PRAISE THE NAME OF THE LORD FOR THE TIME I WAS GIVEN TO SERVE IN ORLANDO, FLORIDA. IT WILL FOREVER BE AN EXPERIENCE I WILL CHERISH.

I LOVE Y’ALL MORE THAN RMs LOVE TELLING MISSION STORIES.

UNTIL NEXT TIME,

"We know who Sister Reid’s new companion is…. he’s a hunk!"

Wow wow wow wow wow wow wow wow wow wow wow wow WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW I NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD EVER WRITE THIS EMAIL…

This was my last week as a full time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
I have so many feelings.
Lemmmmmme tell y’all about my week first… then I’ll get sappy in a sec….
Ok so… MONDAYYY we had P-Day. Always a good time. After P-Day we had dinner with Sister Pokipala who is my favorite lady. Then we took Sister Pokipala to visit #MiracleRyan. Do y’all remember that guy that called us out of the blue last week when we accidentally left a note on his door? WELL RYAN IS SO SOLID IT’S NOT EVEN FUNNY. He let us right in and told us he watched the Easter video we told him to watch… he also told us he watched some of Conference and asked us what a seventy was… and he tried to make light conversation by saying “So I heard the age for missionaries to leave has recently been changed.”
What? Yes… yes it has.
TUESDAYYY we stopped by the Keller’s so I could say goodbye to them. Here’s a picture of me with them and their cats.
image1.JPG
I LOVE THIS FAMILY MORE THAN ANYTHING!
Then we had lunch and then visited Krista. Krista dropped us hard… she even gave me the Book of Mormon back… OUCH OUCH OUCH OUCH 😬🤕 but she did say a really sweet prayer at the end of the lesson asking God to bless me and keep me safe in my travels home. After Krista we knocked a whole hekka lot of doors. We met a cool lady named Giselle who we picked up as a new investigator!
Then we knocked some more doors. 🚪🚪🚪 I never thought I’d say this… but I’m gonna miss this.
Then we had dinner with Bishop and Sister Northcutt. That was fun. Then we had the BEST LESSON OF MY LIFE WITH MY GOOD FRIEND KATHY. Kathy has been taking the discussions from the missionaries for like a thousand years. We were looking through her teaching record and it dawned on us that NOBODY HAS EVER INVITED HER TO BE BAPTIZED…
🙄🙄🙄
We had this awesome lesson where we talked about how Jesus Christ is inviting her to be baptized. The Spirit was so strong it’s not even funny. She has been reading the Book of Mormon and she watched quite a bit of conference and loved it. Her heart really is being prepared. She said she couldn’t give us an answer yet, because it’s something she still needs to pray about, but she did say “that doesn’t mean I’m saying no.” I LOVE KATHY SO MUCH! 💛
After our bomb lesson with Kathy we ran on over to Nelly’s for another bomb lesson. She is just the sweetest thing. We showed her her baptism timeline and she was ecstatic. Oh I love her. She just does everything we ask her to and she asks all the right questions and she is just…. ahhhhh I love her.
WEDNESDAYYY we did service at A Place For Grace. My buddy Caleb made a special trip into the store so he could see me before I left. After we were done working we all ate “ceremonial cookies” because I was leaving. I really do love those people so much!
For lunch we went to this cute little place we’ve been hearing about called Jimmy Bears. It was there that I tasted the best BBQ of my life.
image2.JPG
After service we went and taught the Pastor family. They are just so much fun. Then we had dinner with the Rodriguez’s. They gave me a cute “I ❤️ Orlando” keychain. People are so good to me. Then we went over to the Clarke’s. Gary and Jasmine weren’t home so we had an awesome Book of Mormon read with Ashley. We read 3 Nephi 11 where Christ comes and it was great. After we were done with the lesson Gary and Jasmine came home so we got to talk to them for a while. I love this family more than anything. 💛💛
THURSDAYYY we had my last District Meeting of my mission. It was interesting…
We tried to take some nice pictures but this is what we got…
image3.JPG
Sorry Elder Reyes…
image4.JPG
This is my favorite picture because it’s totally candid and I have no idea what we are all looking at…. haha I love these sisters.
After DM we taught Sister Johnson. THEN THE BEST THING OF MY LIFE HAPPENED…. my bestie Sarah Swerdfeger from the Buena Vista YSA ward drove down to our area to take us to get frozen yogurt so I could see her before I go home!
image5.JPG
#Blessed
Then we went and had dinner with Sister Torres who is always so much fun. After dinner we went to visit one of our investigators, but they weren’t home so we knocked their neighbors and met the cutest lady named Maria. She let us right in and we showed her the Easter video. After the video she said in her cute little Spanish accent “ahhh… that’s nice… WANT SOME JUICE?!” Haha she gave us some orange juice and then we taught her about the restoration.
After our lesson with Maria we had another bomb lesson with Nelly. We taught her about prophets. I’m telling ya… that girl is on fire.
FRIDAYYYY WE WOKE UP AT THE CRACK OF DAWN AND WENT ON OVER TO THE HAPPIEST PLACE ON EARTH! Friday was my departing temple trip. We got to do a session in the Orlando temple. When I was sitting in the celestial room I opened up the Book of Mormon to Alma 26 which is where Ammon reflects on his mission to the Lamanites and rejoices about the time he’s spent as a missionary. He talkes about how good God has been to him and one of my favorite lines that he says is “I cannot say the smallest part which I feel.”
My friends… I echo his words. My time here in the Sunshine State has been so sweet. I don’t know how to accuratly describe the gratitude I feel towards my Father in Heaven for allowing me this opportunity. “Therefore, let us glory, yea, we will glory in the Lord; yea, we will rejoice, for our joy is full; yea, we will praise our God forever. Behold, who can glory too much in the Lord? Yea, who can say too much of his great power, and of his mercy, and of his long-suffering towards the children of men? Behold, I say unto you, I cannot say the smallest part which I feel.” (Alma 26:16)
After that sweet time in the Celestial room all of the departing missionaries met with a member of the temple presidency and his wife and President and Sister Clark in one of the sealing rooms and they spoke to us. It was such a sweet and tender experience. One of my favorite things was when President Clark talked about the chandeliers. In the celestial room there is this magnificent crystal chandelier that is one of the prettiest things I have ever seen. President talked about how if you look closely you can see it move just slightly. The movement is subtle, but it is that little tiny movement is what makes it sparkle. He talked about how each of us have created a little movement here in Florida and left a little glitter here on the Sunshine State.
We took some pictures outside with the group. I sure do love all these crazy kids.
image6.JPG
President Clark even took a selfie with us…. I’m telling you… I have the coolest mission president.
IMG_7835.JPG
After our temple trip SISTER MOHENOA INFORMED US THAT HER TONGAN COUSINS HAD DRIVEN THREE HOURS UP FROM TAMPA TO TAKE ALL OF THE SISTERS OUT TO LUNCH…
IMG_7846.JPG
People are so good to us. Oh so good. ☀☀☀
Then we went with Sister Mohenoa and Sister Anderson to the Liahona Book Store….ok ok ok ok….. so MY GIRL SISTER MOHENOA GOT ME THIS CUTE LITTLE WILLOW TREE GIRL WITH A PINEAPPLE BECASUE I LOVE PINEAPPLES AND MY HEART JUST EXPLODED BECAUSE I LOVE SISTER MOHENOA SO MUCH.
IMG_7865.JPG
AHHHHH….PEOPLE ARE SO GOOD TO ME. #BLESSED 🍍🍍🍍
Then after a long drive home we weekly planned and I started packing. My friends…. packing is rough. My heart belongs to the Sunshine State and I don’t know how I’m going to leave this place.
We did a little bit of finding in the evening. We met a lady named Lara who happens to be the wife of our investigator Tony. That was cool.
Then we went to dinner with the Pescia’s. Brother Pescia is our ward mission leader and their family is from Hawaii. At the end of our little visit they busted out the ukulele and sang to Elder Reyes and I because we are leaving. They also gave us leis from Hawaii and it was the sweetest thing of my life. Ahhh I love these people. 🌴
image7.JPG
SATURDAYYY we woke up and the Peck’s came and got us early in the morning and we headed to the Camping World Stadium for this huge service project. There was a big event this weekend called He Got Up. It is a resource fair that they bus in homeless people from all over and give them free haircuts and job training and food and all kinds of other things. We ended up writing numbers on cards. I did almost a thousand cards and my hand was real tired by the end of that. AND HERE IS THE BIGGEST TENDER MERCY OF MY LIFE….. my BESTIES LACEY BREWER AND SAM NEELEY FROM THE BUENA VISTA YSA WARD WERE BOTH THERE SO I GOT TO SEE THEM BEFORE I FLY HOME AND I JUST LOVE THEM LOTS. I also got to say goodbye to a bunch of other missionaries from other zones including my sweet Sister Larsen.
After we left He Got Up we went with the Peck’s to Chick-Fil-A. Then we ran with them to pick up some barbies and logos from this random lady…. haha. It was fun though. We got to play with their chickens and ended up showing them the Easter video and teaching them a little bit about the church.
I really want a chicken.
image8.JPG
[Brynlee and I]
image9.JPG
[look how cute it is!]
image10.JPG
[chickens!!!]
Then we did some studies and headed to this cute little sub place to have dinner with the Wheelhouses. After dinner we visited Therma. She is the best.
SUNDAYYY was great. Nelly came for the first time and really liked it. I said goodbye to a lot of people. I really do love this ward a lot.
IMG_7889.JPG
[Sister Torres, Sydney, and Lilly]
IMG_7878.JPG
[My sweet Nelly!]
After church we visited John and Rachel and their family. We had a nice firm discussion about how they aren’t keeping commitments and if they don’t start keeping them then they will never reach their goal of baptism. It was really good. I took some pictures with them. I sure do love this sweet family a lot!
IMG_7895.JPG
[Emma’s like “what’s this black think you have here?”]
Then we went to the Baerga’s for my last dinner with them. They are the coolest people.
After dinner we met a guy named Frank. We taught him about the Book of Mormon.
And that wrapped up our week!
MY FRIENDS… I only have two more days until I take off this little black name tag of mine. My heart hurts because it’s become such a big part of me. I feel so much gratitude towards my Father in Heaven for this time He’s given me to run around the Sunshine state bringing souls closer to Him. More than anything I thank Him for the opportunity I’ve had to meet so many of His children. I’ve come to love them all so much.
To my sweet friends Mayra, Cassie, Will, Cedar, Junior, Josh, Patrick, and Robbie who I’ve watched enter the waters of baptism while I’ve been here I want you to know I’m so proud of each of you. MY FRIENDS. IT’S BEEN REAL. 🤘🏻☀
Out of context quotes:
“They would be excited to see me… all of me.”
“Has Facebook come up with a level of friendship friend request? Like… is there a ‘just friends’ friend request?”
“I’m not shaving my mustache… he has to accept me the way I am!”
“Girl… ain’t nobody want to date a girl with a mustache!”
“And then he’ll propose to you and all you’ll hear is ‘wa wa waaaaa'”
“But also… you’re both attached to another man.”
“That was nice….YOU WANT SOME JUICE?!”
“Why couldn’t the nephites eat dinner?”
“Because they were fasting.”
“it’s a good thing you live on an island!”
“I can’t eat again… I can only be fed by one Polynesian family a day…”
“Everyone knows you follow the Lord’s heart”
“We know who Sister Reid’s new companion is…. he’s a hunk!”
“That’s not Chico…that’s Steve…”
“I woke up in the middle of the night and you know what question I had in my head?…… ‘Is it disso to sing I’m a Little Teapot?’ You know… because like… the word of wisdom” (conversations at 6:45am)
I LOVE Y’ALL MORE THAN AMMON LOVES BEING A MISSIONARY. SEE Y’ALL IN A FEW DAYS.
P.S. HERE IS THIS FOR ANYONE THAT MISSED MY INVITATION TO MY OPEN HOUSE AND HOMECOMING…. HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!!

Whaleeeee
So it was just a really good week. 😍 I’m dying. I love everything about it.
Also…. HAPPY NEW YEAR 🙌🏼🎉
Wowowowowowowowo I spent the ENTIREEEEE YEARRRRR of 2016 in the service of the Lord. What a good feeling that is.
So let me tell y’all about this week.
MONDAYYY we ran on over to Deltona for a zone P-day with all of our homies. We had a white elephant gift exchange. I ended up with a nerf gun. 🔫 I just rearry love Zone P-days. THEN we exchanged with the Deltona English Sisters and I FINALLY GOT TO GO ON EXCHANGES WITH MY HOMIE GIRL SISTER STATEN! 👊🏻😂 She was trained by my trainee Sister Hart. So you could say she is my kin. After waiting for eight years for the elders to go give blood (don’t ask) we were finally able to drive back to NSB. We went and visited the Hewletts who as always, I adore. Then by 8:00 we finally had our dinner dropped off to us so we had a nice dinner in our fort.
Oh…. did i mention we are still living in a fort in our living room?
Ya. That is still a thing.
TUESDAYYY we woke up and my buddy Sister Staten and I went to Habitat for Humanity and did service with Elder Amiott and Elder Haderlie. They are such clowns. Haha then we came home and had lunch. Then we went and saw Cody with Brother Portus. Cody is convinced that I am a villain named “Poison Ivy.” He is autistic and I love him.
I just…. I just want y’all to know how cool it is to be a missionary. Because you walk around all day teaching people and sometimes you have these moments where you get glimpses of how God feels about these people you barely know. God loves His children my friends. I know He does.
After that we ran over to Tammy’s and I did her dishes…. this time she had dish soap instead of shampoo. 🤘🏼 We’re moving up in the world my friends. Then we met a sweet new investigator named Molly. She was so nice! Then we went to Sister Davila’s for dinner and I ate a MOUNTAIN of spaghetti. 😆🍝 I just… I’m a tiny human and sometimes people expect me to eat amounts that professional eaters (I don’t know what you call them… those people that go to like hot dog eating contests) eat. But ya know…. we all have to face trials in our lives. And in the strength of the Lord I can do all things.
Then we went down to NSB to the Steflik’s to teach Kimberly. She is literally the COOLEST person on the planet. She is so sweet.
THEN I HAD TO DRIVE ALL THE WAY TO DELTONA IN THE THICKEST FOG THIS EARTH HAS EVER SEEN. Like… I’m telling you… you couldn’t see very far in front of you at all and if you know me very well you know I have slight car anxiety due to a car accident I was in as a teenager….and by “car accident” I mean “multiple car accidents” But you know… It’s fine. 😭😭 So my knuckles were white as I was gripping the wheel like there’s no tomorrow and I don’t think I’ve prayed so hard in my whole life. Hahaha But don’t worry. I made it.
No sweat. 😎
I gave Sister Staten a pineapple plant.🍍 I was given the pineapple plant at about the same time she came out on her mission. Well it takes about 18 months to grow a pineapple and I don’t have 18 months left so I figured it would be our posterity plant and he could grow it for me. We took a cute polaroid.
Then Sister Glover and I came home and it was good to have her back. I missed my best friend.
WEDNESDAYYY we went to DM and we had an awesome district meeting. I gave a Safeguards thought. After DM I was still feeling supper anxious from the fog drive on Tuesday and couldn’t seem to chill so I had asked the elders for a priesthood blessing. So ELDER BELNAP, ELDER LIESHMAN, ELDER GOFF, AND ELDER DUMMER all gave me a priesthood blessing and my friends…
THE PRIESTHOOD HAS BEEN RESTORED.
I don’t know how to explain how I felt, but I will tell you that I know the Lord is real. I know that he hears our prayers. He knows our concerns. And I just felt so incredibly loved. I don’t even remember what was said in that blessing, but I know the feelings of anxiety immediately left me and they were replaced with so much joy. And I am so grateful to be surrounded by so many worthy priesthood holders that I can call on at a moments notice for help. 💛💛
*breaks out into “The Priesthood Is Restored” found on page 89 of the Children’s hymbook*
Ahhhhh yup. I love the priesthood.
SOOOoooo anyways..
After that we ran home for a quick lunch. Sister Glover made me a special “R” quesadilla..
Then we went and saw brother Harper. I love that man. He always gives me lemonade. 🍋 Then we went and had dinner with the Carey’s.
I have a confession to make.
I did an illegal thing. 🙈
I fed the raccoons. All of them.
There were SO MANY RACCOONS IN THEIR BACKYARD AND THEY WERE SO CUTE.

(Don’t worry… there was glass in between them)
There were eight of them at one point.

So now I’ve done two illegal things on my mission. The first one was launching lanterns like on tangled and the second was feeding forest animals.
I am a Disney princess.
After dinner we saw Milady and her whole crew. That girl is so cute. Then we saw Herbert who is the boyfriend of one of the less actives we are teaching. He was telling us about how tired he always is and I was all “you know Herbert… If you read the Book of Mormon you will sleep better” and he was all “can I have a copy” and we were all “do you want Cambodian or English?” And obviously he picked English because nobody speaks Cambodian here so I don’t know why we have a Cambodian Book of Mormon in our car….
So that happened.
WOW I’M ONLY ON THURSDAY NOW…. I’M SORRY. 10 POINTS TO WHOEVER HAS MADE IT THIS FAR.
So….. THURSDAYYYY we saw Curt and dropped him… then we saw Brian and  so….. he was taking down his Christmas tree when we got there and so we awkwardly stood in the doorway while he laid on the ground and wrapped his legs around the tree and sawed off the bottom branches so that it would fit through the door…. so we were just there trying to teach him the gospel while he wrestled a tree. 🌲😲 I honestly would use this as a role play for new missionaries if I ever became AP….. Like how do these situations even happen to me? We also dropped him because he doesn’t really want to read the Book of Mormon or come to church. Then we met a guy named Mark from Egypt. He was cool. Then we met a Jewish lady named Marlene. She was the sweetest lady ever. Then we saw Sister Chilkott. Since it was the week of New Years we showed her the Look Not Behind Thee video and she got a kick out of it. So we asked her what her new years resolutions are and she was all “um….. I want to learn more about the electoral college……”
Um…….
K……
🙄😐
“Well we were thinking more like live the gospel but I guess that works too.”😂
Ha. Then we saw Sister Gruber who is my adopted Grandma. She gave us ice cream sandwiches like any good grandma would. I love her. Then we met a sweet old lady named Maralyn. She is just the sweetest old lady on the planet! We were contacting in her neighborhood because Sister Spears asked us to knock her neighbors and so we were at the door of the person on the other side of her duplex and since they wern’t home we were trying to catch a lizard…. well she overheard us and wanted to know what the whole commotion was about so she came around the corner to ask about it. Haha She was crying because she had just finished reading a really sad book and man.. she is just the cutest old lady. So we talked about the book because Sister Glover had seen the movie. Then we shared a brief restoration and invited her to come to church and she said she would come check it out soon!
Then we had dinner with the Fedrick’s at Cracker Barrel. I love them. Then we taught Brother Schmidt and Brother Randolph. Then we went and saw Patrick who is just the coolest. He was all “sisters… I’ve been reading the Book of Mormon and I can’t seem to put it down!”
*PASSES OUT*
ahhh Patrick…. isn’t the Book of Mormon just the most wonderful thing?😄
FRIDAYYY rolled around and we weekly planned for a hot minute. Then we went and did some finding and literally nobody wanted to talk to us all day long. Every door we knocked on and every person we talked to turned us away. We went by to see Mark. He told Sister Glover all about how “Sister Reid was this angel sent from heaven….” but then we asked him if he’d read the Book of Mormon and he said “no, and I’m not going to.”
MARK…. GOD LITERALLY SENT ANGELS TO GIVE YOU THE WORD OF GOD AND YOU WON’T OPEN IT UP BECAUSE YOU ARE FINE JUST HAVING YOUR “OWN RELIGION OF YOU AND GOD”
It just makes me really sad when people don’t to read it.
Whatever. 🙄
Then we saw the Orbans. Who I love. We also had dinner with the Cintron’s. Who I also love.
SATURDAYYY we met a guy named John and taught him about how the church has been restored. Then we went on over to the inlet because life is better out there by the ocean. It simply is. We met a guy named Derek on Ogden Blvd. And picked him up as an investigator! Then we met a guy named Arnaldo who became a new investigator, then we met a former investigator named Frank who became a new investigator.
Ahhhhhh I love Ponce Inlet.☀️🌴
We learned a lot of things while we were finding. The first thing we learned was from Frank. He taught us that mustard seed will cure any ailment and that you ever have. Ever.
The second thing we learned is from brother Clapp. He taught us that if you ever get shot that you should use tampons to plug up the bullet holes…. he also told us that if you ever get a cut you should just superglue it. Just simply hold your skin together and superglue it.
I can’t believe I’ve gone all my life without this knowledge. 😂
Then we went and saw the Sebastian Clan. I love them. Then we went and got ice cream for dinner… obviously. 😋🍦 Then we went and saw Patrick and we showed him his baptismal calendar and he was so excited! He was also so pumped to show us that he downloaded the Book of Mormon app on his phone and was telling us all about all the things he has been reading.
Then we had to be in early because #NewYearsEve is cray and everybody was going to be drunk so they wanted us off the roads.
So naturally we went home and did some face masks that Sister Hewlett gave us for Christmas. They were kinda creepy so we took some creepy pictures. Enjoy.

Haha
Oh SUNDAYYY aka NEW YEARS DAY we went to church. Sister Glover spoke and did a fabulous job! Patrick came to church and got there before us and was sitting there reading the Book of Mormon and he was all “oh hi sisters! I’ve been reading Mormon and it’s quickly becoming my favorite book. I can’t put it down.”

*WHIPS AND NAE NAES OUT OF THE CHAPEL”

OKAYYYY PATRICKKKK ah. It kills me. He is so cool. The other best part about Sunday was dinner with the Steflik’s. I just LLOVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEE that family. That’s all the end.
Ah so it was a slamin’ week. I’m doing swell. HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALLLLLLLL (and HAPPPY BIRTHDAY TO DAD!!!!!!!!!) I’ve been jammin’ out to Ring out Wild Bells all week.
Here are our Out of Context Quotes for the week:
“I only wear organic ties…”
“I only think about you when I’m PMSing”
“Please stop bringing your horse on temple Square”
“My New Years resolution is to learn more about the electoral college… and then if I don’t like it I’m going to send a letter to congress”
“I was born catholic and I’ll die catholic….”
“And then we’ll baptize ya.”
“They stole my tire valve cap…”
“We should cut off their thumbs”
*hears scream from outside*
“Someone cut off their thumbs”
“I thought a bib could be fun.”

I LOVE Y’ALL MORE THAN FRANK LOVE MUSTARD SEED!!!

Nothing’s wet about my diaper

 Dec. 28, 2016
Wellllllllllllllllllll so I skyped y’all yesterday and so you pretty much know everything about my life BUT I guesssss I’ll still write an email for all y’all that didn’t skype me yesterday.. I guess.
Here’s how my week went.
P-Day➡️Tuesday➡️Exchanges with my home girl Sister Badal and all my friends in Daytona➡️Christmas Zone Conference➡️Josh’s Baptism➡️Christmas Eve➡️CHRISTMAS {& Skyping my kin}
So that’s about it.
Talk to you later byeeeeeeeeee
Just kidding.
I’ll tell you about it.
MONDAY we just had a normal P-Day. Then we saw the Hewletts. My best friends. I love them.
➡️Random insert: Elder Goff just walked into the church building wearing the same hat as me… incase you were wondering.
TUESDAY we started off our day at Habitat for Humanity. Always a good time! Then we taught Robbie and Kim the Plan of Salvation. ROBBIE IS SO COOL AND HE’S GETTING BAPTIZED IN JANUARY. We also taught them how they can be sealed together forever in the temple and how they can be together forever in the Celestial Kingdom and they thought that was a pretty good idea. Then we taught Josh. My #1 kid. He’s such a champ. You should hear his prayers. We also saw Patrick and taught him the Plan of Salvation too. He was excited about it. HE’S ALSO GETTING BAPTIZED IN JANUARY!!
WEDNESDAY I got to be on exchanges in my homeland Daytona with my BFF Sister Badal (I call her Bad Al). We had fun. I got to see a bunch of people I used to teach when I was serving in that area. It was so fun.
THURSDAY we had Zone conference/Christmas devotional. It was so much fun. I got to see My Tongan Twin, Sister Mohenoa, and a bunch of other mission homies. Sister Glover and I somehow ended up doing a musical number with Sister Von Feldt, Elder Dummer, Elder White, and Elder Lieshman. Nobody died so I guess It went aiight. We also taught Josh and my home girl Milady that evening. I love that girl.
FRIDAY we weekly planned real quick. Then we taught Patrick the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Then we swung on over to JOSH’S BAPTISM!!! It went so amazingly good. Here are some cute Polaroids from the ’tism. 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼

After the baptism we taught Tammy, then we went and had dinner with our new favorite family. The Littlefields just moved back from the U.K. Where they’ve been living for 18 months. They have all these cute little boys and when we were going to say a closing prayer the boys were all MOM CAN WE SAY OUR WELSH PRAYERS? And then they all said these cute little prayers in welsh and I decided that I’m moving to Wales so that my kids can learn welsh because it was the cutest ever. Then we went and saw the Hewletts.
SATURDAY was Christmas Eve… incase you didn’t notice. We made five thousand cookies (that’s a lie. We only made five dozen.) to give to people. Then we delivered them and headed on over to the Wells family party. We did a “Christmas Presentation” for their whole family. It was a slightly awkward time because everyone was anxious to eat and we just held them all captive with Christmas videos. Hahaha it was really fun though. Then we ran on over to the Orbans to have dinner with them and the Shauvers. I was so full by the end of that dinner I wanted to cry. Haha but I had a blast and a half with them. Then we went and spent some time with our adopted Grandma, Sister Gruber. I always love seeing her. 💛 (Then we may or may not have opened all of our Christmas presents because we have no self-control. Hahahaha) #SorryNotSorry Sister Glover took pictures of me while I opened them and I discovered that I’m not a very photogenic present opener.

SUNDAY we woke up because we were supposed to meet the elders at the church and open Christmas presents together BUT Elder Pierson, Sister Glover, and I have no self control so we all just watched Elder Amiot open his presents. Hahaha the Elders also made us breakfast burritos. It was all a plot to get Sister Glover to eat deer meet without knowing it because earlier in the week she had made a comment to the elders about how she didn’t like deer meat. Hahaha the burritos were good. Then we had church and MY LIL FRIEND JOSH GOT THE GIFT OF THE HOLY GHOST FOR CHRISTMAS!
Is. That. Not. The. Cutest. Thing. You’ve. Ever. Heard?
He was beaming.
Sister Glover and I sang in the choir. It was a fantastic sacrament meeting. Then we did like a thousand and a half lesson reports. Then we had lunch with the Spears and Sister Hutchinson. Then we ran on over the Bottom of NSB to the Biddle’s house TO SKYPE OUR FAMILIES.

Hahaha look at them all taking pictures of me…. haha awkward.
Then we partied with the big crew that was at the Biddle’s house. We had a bunch of women decide to tell us ALL ABOUT CHILDBIRTH because we were definitely really curious about that…😆😐… HAHAHAHAHAHA why? Then the elders walked in the room and heard what we were talking about and stuck their fingers in their ears and were all “la la la la la”
WHATTTTTTTTT A CHRISTMAS. I had a blast.

Check out this sweet bus Sister Glover and I found…

TODAYYY We are at the Deltona building with all our friends because we are having a white elephant gift exchange.
Welp… that’s about all I’ve got for you today. Stay tuned for a few voice recordings… one of them is us pretending to be a part of Pentatonix. And I’ll send some more pictures your way too.
HAVE A GREAT WEEK AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Here’s to spending the entire year of 2016 in the service of the Lord! 🎊🎉🎊🎉
*raises glass of grapefruit juice to the sky in celebration*
Here are some out of context quotes:
Sometimes I play my guitar like a water bottle
Nothing’s wet about my diaper
That’s what Dr. Phil says…
I love y’all more than Sister Glover loves Polaroid pictures. ✌🏻️Have a great week my friends. MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!

🍍🍋🍍🍋🍍🍋🍍🍋

"Where are you from again?" -Melody "Utah…" -Sister Glover "No You tall!" -Melody

For those of you who still need it for Christmas cards/what not here is my address…
Sister Whitney Reid
3900 Yorktowne Blvd. #5107
Port Orange, Florida 32127
MONDAYYY we had our normal P-Day adventures. We spent multiple hours in Walmart waiting for our Christmas cards to be done. 😂What a life. That night we met a guy named Bobby and then we visited my best friends (The Hewletts). We put up their Christmas tree because we are obsessed with Christmas.
TUESDAYYYY We went to #Habitat4Humanity and sorted clothes. I was going through the shirts and I found this gray and white stripped shirt and I was like “this is cute… I should buy this.” Then I looked down and I realized that I was already wearing a gray and white stripped shirt…..  I bought it anyways. 😂Later we visited Tammy and she had us wash her dishes with shampoo again and then when we left she yelled to us to “bring our own dawn dish soap next time so that we don’t use up all of her shampoo.”
K… 🙄😐
Then we saw my buddy Josh. He’s a champ. Then we taught Robbie and Kim at the Wholrab’s house. Man! Robbie is so prepared I can’t handle it and God just keeps handing us miracle people and I just keep looking up at the sky and saying “what did I do to deserve this God?” God is so good. After Robbie we taught Milady and crew. What a party.
WEDNESDAYYY Sister Glover was sicker than sick. So she slept all day and had a Book of Mormon read-a-thon and I did arts and crafts. I made a cute notebook for Milady so she can take notes in it when she reads her Book of Mormon.
➡️Side note: I know I’ve talked about it before, but Milady literally BRINGS HER BOOK OF MORMON WITH HER TO SCHOOL EVERYDAY AND READS IT DURING LUNCH BECAUSE SHE LOVES IT SO MUCH. who even is this girl? She’s nine.
Yup. That’s about all I did on Wednesday.
THURSDAYYY Sister Glover was still sick but she was also sick of the apartment so we went and taught the world about Jesus anyways. We had ZTM. It was such a good meeting. EXCEPT FOR THE PART WHERE ELDER GOFF AND ELDER DUMMER CALLED ME THE NIGHT BEFORE AT 10:15 AND ASKED ME TO “FILL IN” FOR THE MUSICAL NUMBER BECAUSE ONE OF THE OTHER SISTERS WAS SICK….. Luckily it was with three other missionaries so nobody could tell I literally didn’t practice this song once before performing it to a group of missionaries. And nobody died or anything so I guess it went alright. 😂
Sister Glover and I gave a training on Elder Bednar’s talk from last conference. It went better than we had hoped and if nothing else I learned a ton from preparing it. Everyone should go re-study that talk!

After ZTM we taught our friend Brian with Brother Wescott. Then we saw my favorite kid, Josh. Then we met a guy named Bill. Good old Bill. Then we taught the Harbucks. YOU GUYS LISTEN UP FOR ANOTHER MANNA STORY!!!
So the parents are members, but fell away from the church before any of the kids were baptized. Patrick is now 20 and they still LOVE the missionaries. The week before we had stopped by and met Ross and Zoe. They were so nice and told us that their mom loves us and that we should come back when she is home. Then later we stopped by and met her and she was excited to see us and said that Zoe had mentioned to Patrick that we had stopped by and Patrick told his mom that he wanted to go back to the Mormon church. SO WE WENT BACK AND TAUGHT THE ENTIRE FAMILY AND PATRICK WAS ALL…..
 *base drop*
“I want to join the church.”
*breaks out in awkward Indian tribal dance to celebrate the manna God has sent from heaven*
After our lesson with them we went to Brother Schmidt and Judy’s. Always a good time.
FRIDAYYY we weekly planned and taught Josh. Then we visited Sister Gruber (my adopted grandma) and listened to her wisdom for a bit. Then we taught the Cintron’s. They had family over that are members of the Daytona ward. We sang Christmas songs for them and at one point we had almost all of them in tears. I love doing that. Then we taught Brother Clausen about Christmas and he taught us how you can use any of the tools in his garage as weapons.
Good to know Brother Clausen… good to know. 😂
Then we came home and began building a fort. It’s tradition in my family to build a fort for Christmas and since Sister Glover is a pal she agreed to move our mattresses into the front room and build a fort to sleep in this week. Let me tell ya… it’s one of the best forts yet.

SATURDAYYY I woke up in my fort and was very confused because I didn’t know where I was. Hahaha we taught Milady and crew. Then we saw Brother Schreck, then we visited Cody and then Bill with Brother Portus, then we saw Brother Harper, then we saw my buddy Junior who is just the best little recent convert. Then we ran down to the church for the WARD SNOWBALL FIGHT!
Before the party Patrick and Zoe came for a lesson. We taught them in the chapel with Brother Adler. Patrick told us that when he walked into the building he started to tear up because he felt like he was coming home and he remembered how good it felt to come here when he was little. We had a solid lesson and Patrick is so prepared!
Then we went to the ward party and we hung out with Patrick and Zoe, and Cody and his little brother Jacob. It was so fun. And we had all kinds of other non-members and less actives come and I just kept having to pinch myself because it almost felt too good to be true.
AND THEN WE WERE JUST STANDING THERE WHEN ALL OF THE SUDDEN THE BISHOP STARTED THROWING SNOWBALLS AND THEN ALL THE MADNESS BROKE LOOSE AND THE ENTIRE WARD WENT CRAZY. And obviously the sister missionaries are a fun target for everyone so Sister Glover and I were diving under tables and everyone and their dog were throwing cotton snowballs at us and I don’t know if I’ve ever laughed so hard in my life.
{Cody and Jacob}

{Kim, Patrick, Zoe, me, photobomb by Brother Biddle, and Sister Glover}

THEN after the massive snowball fight died down and we cleaned up the ward gave us strings and strings of Christmas lights and I about cried because I was so excited to put them in our fort.
SUNDAYYYY I went to church expecting a normal Sunday. I was greeting people and was looking in the chapel to see if any investigators had come in when ALL OF THE SUDDEN I SEE THE DANIELS FAMILY WALK IN THE OTHER SIDE! I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited to see anyone in my entire life. I (almost) reverently screamed and ran to hug them all. I was so surprised and had no idea they were coming. The Daniels are a family that I grew up with. Lauren is one of my best friends in the entire world and she got home from her mission in Tahiti a week and a half ago and then their family decided to come to Florida on vacation and track me down. It was the sweetest tender mercy to get to see them. I GOT TO SIT NEXT TO MY BEST FRIEND DURING SACRAMENT MEETING… BEST CHRISTMAS PRESENT EVER!!!
Haha Sister Glover is still new to the ward so she doesn’t know everyone and she thought they were just members of the ward so she was so confused as to why I was so excited to see them and was like “man… Sister Reid is really excited to see those members.” And then she asked some other members that were standing by her what was going on. Hahahahaha

goodness gracious great balls of fire
Probably the best Sunday of my life.
AND THEN.. After church and choir Josh had his interview and he passed! 🙌🏼 YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAY *whip and nae nae*
Then the Steflik’s picked us up for dinner. Their friend Kim came and SHE REALLY WANTS TO JOIN THE CHURCH AND WE HAD THE BEST FIRST DISCUSSION OF MY LIFE AND WE PUT HER ON DATE AND SHE IS ALL FIRED UP AND…. manna my friends…. I don’t know what I’m doing to deserve all of these blessings.
Oh… and Sister Glover also got a priesthood blessing from bishop that casually mentioned that we were friends in the pre-mortal existence and that we will be friends thought the eternities. Coolest thing I’ve ever heard in my life.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHH LIFE IS SO GOOD AND SO IS GOD AND HEREEEEEEEEE ARE SOME #OutOfContextQuotes from the week:
“Where are you from again?” -Melody
“Utah…” -Sister Glover
“No You tall!” -Melody
“The only thing bigger than your muscles is my sombrero.”
“You can go flame, but it doesn’t melt!”
“I too just go butt first into the tree on the weekends”
“Utah… is that the land of the hogs?”
“Sometimes when God gives me good things like double wrapped tortillas it just makes me want to skat.”
“Dear coffee I hate you cuz your DITSO!”
“You can get on my counter when we get home.”
ALSO….. HERE IS A PICTURE OF OUR FINISHED FORT. The sheets need fixing, but you get the idea.

I love y’a more than I love sleeping In forts and having fake snowball fights.
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL AND TO ALL TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT! ✌🏻️🌴🎄
